The Neighborhood
The San Marco district is one of the smallest neighborhoods in Venice, yet it’s home to most of the city’s most famous landmarks. Life in the San Marco area centers around St. Mark’s Square, where you can visit the Basilica and Campanile. Another must-see is the Doge’s Palace, with its famous Bridge of Sighs.
If you’re interested in exploring Venice’s major museums, the San Marco district also hosts one of the city’s finest, the Correr Museum. While the area is rich in famous attractions, its true charm lies in the narrow streets, where you can wander and be soothed by the tranquil waters of the lagoon’s canals.
